Instructor:  Paula Tormey, Certified PMC Instructor with RIO and has been teaching for more than 8 years.

Suitable for High School Students and Adults

PMC is pure silver in a powdered form mixed with a binder and water to create a clay-like substance.  This is an introductory class to take if you've never taken a metal clay class or if you've been away from working with PMC and would like a refresher.

Explore the many ways fine silver Precious Metal Clay can be used to create jewelry.  It can be manipulated, shaped, and textured somewhat like a polymer or ceramic clay.  Once dry the piece can be sanded, refined, and then kiln fired.  During the firing process the binder and water burn off and the silver molecules sinter (fuse together) resulting in a pure silver piece. After the firing, the pieces are finished and shined.

Students will fully finish a pair of earrings in this class.   Techniques and projects will be demonstrated and the instructor will help you create the jewelry that you want to make.  Students at all levels of experience are welcome to join in the fun of using this method of working with pure silver.   If you would like to learn more about this new clay material log on to the official PMC guild website: www.pmcguild.com.
