Exhibition: May 12 - June 30, 2012

View, will present it's 8th annual Northeast National Pastel Exhibition. It has fast become a highlight of our annual exhibition calendar with thousands of visitors a year from the Northeast and beyond enjoying this varied and colorful display. The Northeast National Pastel Exhibition has succeeded in educating and thrilling exhibit goers with works from some of the nation’s foremost pastel artists.

Opening Reception
Friday, May 11, 5-7pm
Enjoy live blues and jazz, wine and hors d’oeuvres.


Special Pastel Events With Alain Picard, PSA Saturday, May 12
$15 /$10 members & exhibiting artists/per event
$5 discount when you attend both
Gallery Walkabout & Continental Breakfast 9:30-11am
Alain will lead a group discussion about paintings displayed in the 2012 exhibition.
Portrait Demonstration & Decadent Desserts 7-9pm
Alain will demonstrate his technique for portrait painting. Learn about pastels and portraiture, painlessly, while sampling exotic pastries and desserts.

2012 Juror of Selection: Alain Picard, PSA
Alain Picard earned a BA in illustration from Western CT State University and went on to study at the Art Students League, NYC. Picard cites Sargent, Degas, and Sorolla, among his influences, and that love of light and beauty are immediately apparent in his paintings. Alain's work has been featured in The Artists Magazine and The Pastel Journal, and has garnered top awards in esteemed exhibitions including the Portrait Society of America and the Pastel Society of America. In 2004, The Artists Magazine highlighted him as one of 20 contemporary artists "on the Rise", and he won the Best Portfolio Award at the 2009 Portrait Society of America Conference in Washington, DC. Alain lives with his wife and two sons in Southbury, Connecticut.   

2012 Juror of Awards: Martha Deming, PSA
Martha Deming is one of the areas most respected artists, and is a valued member of many national and regional art association, having earned signature membership from the Pastel Society of America, the Transparent Watercolor Society of America, and the Central New York Watercolor Society. Martha was fundamentally involved and supportive during the founding of the Northeast National Pastel Exhibition as well as one of the region's most exciting annual arts events, the Old Forge Plein Air Paint Out. Her works in both pastel and watercolor have graced the walls of countless exhibitions.
