This exhibition of Richard Zakins work will display the ceramic pieces that he is known for as well as his digital drawings. The combination will provide insight into his transitions between two and three dimensional work.
Zakin earned his undergraduate degree at Syracuse University and a master of fine arts from the SUNY College of Ceramics at Alfred. Having taught ceramics at SUNY Oswego since 1967, he has been invited to give numerous lectures and workshops throughout the United States, has visited various schools as an artist-in-residence and has exhibited his work widely.
Interested in the technical problems found in the various firing temperatures of clay, Zakin has written several articles on the subject for Ceramics Monthly and Ceramics Review and has written books on the subject that include “Electric Kiln Ceramics,” “Ceramics: Mastering the Craft,” “Hand-formed Ceramics” and “Ceramics: Ways of Creation.”
