Our galleries are currently filled with beautiful art and photography representing our vast sky! We would like to invite you to join our Celestial Celebration Day!
The Adirondack Sky Center from Tupper Lake will be bringing their STARLAB Portable Planetarium in from 2:00pm – 4:00pm. "Back to the Moon For Good", a 30 minute film narrated by Tim Allen, will be featured in the Planetarium. Showtimes will be 2:00pm, 2:45pm, and 3:30pm and are free!
Faith Thompson, from the Mohawk Valley Astronomical Society will be giving a free presentation at 5:00pm in Gould Hall and weather permitting, bring telescopes to view the sun and stars.
At 6:30pm, Seth McGowan from the Adirondack Sky Center will also give a free 30 minute presentation called "Perspective" which helps us understand the incredible size of our solar system and galaxy.
From 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm, in workshops, you can drop in and make celestial t-shirts or tote bags by using block printing and fabric paint ($10 for shirts and $5 for tote bags). In pottery, you can paint your own Ceramic Hot Air Balloons for only $5.
We will also have free sky themed crafts, games, and free gallery admission with scavenger hunt throughout the day. In the courtyard from 4:00pm – 7:00pm, we will have an outdoor fire with sparklers and marshmallows, and a paper plane race. Snacks and drinks will be available during the event and a cash bar will open at 4pm.
