Overview

Drypoint etching is a technique that combines drawing and printmaking. Artist and educator, Tim Rand, will work with each student as they develop their skills using plexiglass plates paired with a variety of tools to create line and tone.  All materials are included in this class.  Bring your own 5" x 7" image of your choice or pick one the day of the workshop.  Tim will be exhibiting at View with his solo show, Sketch to Etch: Prints by Tim Rand, from June 1 - July 28, 2024.

Tim Rand is an artist based in Clinton, NY who specializes in painting and printmaking. Having rekindled an interest in printmaking while working at Hamilton College, he invested in his own printmaking studio, hoping to meet the challenge of a new medium.

Embracing techniques that have been around for centuries, such as Block Printing and Etching. Tim holds those techniques in high regard, this show, much like the subjects, are a rejection of modern technology and a study of a simple life spent.
