Surface Decoration Workshop with Traveling Potter Sarah Anderson

Discover the world of sgraffito surface designs in this immersive workshop. It’s perfect for those new to ceramics or looking to expand their pottery decoration techniques. Led by Sarah Anderson, a full time ceramic artist who creates illustrative characters on the surface of clay through the use of sgraffito, the Italian form of clay carving. Bright colors and exaggerated creatures are obvious statements in her work, creating a uniquely identifiable brand for herself.

In this workshop Sarah will take participants through the process and you will have the opportunity to learn the skill and create a unique piece of your very own.  The studio will provide leather hard test tiles for practice.  Sarah will provide the underglazes and tools.  We encourage participants to bring a leather hard piece (cone 6 clay only please) of their own as a final project.  The studio will have leather hard pieces for purchase ($10) for anyone who cannot bring in one of their own.  

All equipment and tools will be provided. No prior experience required- this workshop is open to everyone. Completed pieces will be fired and ready for pick up typically 10 days after the event.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations made at least 10 days prior to the first day of a class will receive a 100% refund, or can be exchanged for another class.  Cancellations made less than 10 days prior to the first day of class can only be exchanged for another class.  No refunds or exchanges will be made for failing to show up to class without prior notice.  

In the event that View were to cancel a class, a full refund for the class will be issued.
