The Mountain Air Painters meet each Thursday from May until October to paint together en plein air - French for “in the open air”. All paint medium are represented - watercolor, oil, pastel, gouache, and acrylic. We are fortunate to paint at many well known locations in the area, such as the green bridge, the train station, and the waterfront. We also have been invited to paint at a number of private residences, from traditional great camps to new more modern lakeside homes.
Some of us are experienced artists and some are new to art, but the atmosphere is always welcoming and fun is encouraged. Each session ends with an opportunity to show eachother what we have painted and ask for comments and suggestions. We learn so much from eachother. Some of us live in the Old Forge area year round, others are seasonal and a good number of our group drive each week from the Utica and Syracuse areas.
> We all share an appreciation and respect for “our Adirondacks” and hope that these paintings inspire others to love and care for this unique area. View is our “home base” and we are grateful to have this arts and culture center here for artists and all who visit.
